Which shoe goes on first (left or right)

One of the great things about learning Yerushalmi or Daf Yomi in general, is that I get some of the non-refined version of the things I had learned in school or heard in passing and have not necessarily gotten a complete picture. Every few paragraphs something catches my attention.

So I've started summarizing things that were either "music to my ears" - i.e. go well with my ideology, or had a certain shock effect or something I'd like to quote some time.

For example: שבת כ"ז ע"א שורה 2
רב יוסי בכבה uses the expression תנוח דעתך in a context where we would commonly use the expression ישר כח

שבת ל"ה ע"ב לקראת סוף הדף
Today I came across רבי יוחנן 's opinion on which shoe goes on first...
He says the left goes on first (against both the breisa, and common practice today), and when someone offered him the right shoe first he "cursed" him בבליה (you Babylonian)

Why is this story important to me? - I usually put on the most available shoe, but once I went with one of my sons to the miqva erev Yom Kippur and as he was putting on his shoes, someone offered him an unsolicited pro-tip that he should put the "right" one on first. To which I quickly interjected that he's doing it correctly because he's left-handed - which thankfully left the other guy speechless.  But now I know that no matter how I adorn my socks or shoes (or remove them) I'm either following the Mishna Brura or Rabbi Yochanan.  - Which is a win for the - lets stop treating minhagim as halacha camp.
